Jane’s Addiction have shared a public apology after an onstage scuffle ended their show early in Boston on Friday. According to reports, singer Perry Farrell, 65, was reportedly upset about the stage volume his bandmates were playing at during recent concerts, and shoved — and then punched — guitarist Dave Navarro, 57.  Perry was immediately restrained and dragged offstage by bassist Eric Avery and crew members, with the incident bringing an early end to the show. Attendees at the show shared footage of the incident on social media. which appeared to show Farrell shoving Navarro while the band was performing their song “Ocean Size.”

A brief statement on the band’s Instagram Story read: “We want to extend a heartfelt apology to our fans for the events that unfolded last night. As a result we will be cancelling tomorrow [September 15] night’s show in Bridgeport. Refunds will be issued at your point of purchase, or if you purchased via a third-party reseller (StubHub, SeatGeek etc) reach out to them directly.”

Jane’s Addiction was scheduled to perform Sunday night at the Hartford Healthcare Amphiteatre in Bridgeport, Connecticut; their next scheduled show is set for Sept. 18 at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto.

Farrell’s wife Etty issued her own statement on social media, detailed her ‘first-person account’ of the incident. Etty stated that her husband had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat due to the band’s high stage volume, and went on to suggest that Avery took some cheap shots at the singer while he was being restrained.

The original Jane’s Addiction lineup — Perry, Navarro, Avery and Stephen Perkins — returned for the 2024 reunion tour, which is set to conclude on Oct. 16 in their hometown of Los Angeles.
